Missy Peacharoo

Roma Street Parklands Kids Collective

Schools out, but that doesn’t have to mean the learning stops. Missy Peacharoo was recently invited to entertain and educate children at Roma Street Parklands Kids Collective school holiday program in Brisbane. The adorable children’s entertainer joined a host of other fun workshops. The holiday program provides free entertainment for kids between 5-12 years throughout the July, September and October school holidays. There is a series of kids classes and workshops to keep them busy and happy so they don’t get bored. A parent’s dream.

Colourful Interactive Fun

In true Missy Peacharoo style the fun-loving, furry Aussie fresh produce character hopped at the chance to educate and entertain about healthy fruit and vegetables and the benefits it has. Beginning the day with some of Missy’s favourite games, this adorable entertainer joined kids playing pin the fruit and vegetables where children came from all around the parklands to play. Guessing where the fruit or vegetable grows is the aim of the game. Missy was delighted to see the children from a variety of age groups participating – even the adults got involved. The furry mascot entertainer was thrilled to be part of the school holiday fun at Roma Street Parklands Kids Collective

Healthy Choices

Promoting healthy choices is Missy’s mission. Childhood nutrition has a major influence on health throughout the entire lifespan. Despite this 99% of Australian children do not meet the recommended daily serves of fruit and vegetables. It is important to introduce a variety of fruit and vegetables early in a child’s life. Children’s food preferences are directly linked to familiarity and consumption patterns. The earlier in the child’s life and the broader the exposure to fruits and vegetables, the healthier the Childs diet. A healthy diet in childhood promotes motor and cognitive development and prevents nutrient deficiencies, which can cause major health concerns later on in life. Obesity, hypertension and cardiovascular diseases later in life have a direct correlation to childhood nutrition. Adequate nutrition in early childhood allows children to maintain concentration, improves memory, strengthens bones, builds muscles, provides energy and ensures blood quality.

Of course, no Missy Peacharoo appearance is quite complete without her favourite catchy song and dance number “What’s your favourite food”. Missy’s toe tapping feet jumped into action and was a real crowd pleaser. Children, parents, and grandparents got into the fresh produce groove and sing-a-long creating a spectacular outdoor dance crew that saw everyone having a great time. Photo time! Photos where abundant throughout the day. A real testament to how much the children and adults love Missy Peacharoo. The perfect family memento for a glorious day amongst the lush green gardens of Roma Street Parklands.

A huge thank you to Roma Street Parklands Kids Collective Erin and the crew for the invitation. Thank you to all the Brisbane locals for coming out to play with Missy Peacharoo, Mira and Farmer Tony.
